21 Dec 2007 (The Gazette) On Monday, December 31, 2007, banks will not transact business with customers. This one-off special bank holiday was declared by the Central Bank to ensure a smooth changeover from the Cyprus pound to the Euro, on January 1, 2008.

Weekend Public Holidays: Public holidays that occur on a weekend remain on that date (ie. they are not moved to another date, such as the following Monday, for example).
Banks are closed on all these listed days except are open on Christmas Eve Banks are closed on Orthodox Easter Tuesday when most other places are open .
Government offices are officially closed on the following public holidays: New Year's Day, Greek Independence Day, May Day, and Independence Day.
Officially, the following days are observed as holidays by public servants:
(a) Greek Orthodox:
Epiphany, Ash Monday, Greek Independence Day, Orthodox Good Friday, Orthodox Easter Monday, Orthodox Whit Monday, Assumption Day, Ochi Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and the Second Day of Christmas.
(b) Turkish Muslim:
The Prophet's Birthday, Ramazan Bayrami (2 days), Kourban Bayrami (3 days), Turkish Independence Day on April 23rd, Atatürk Day on May 19th, Turkish Victory Day on August 30th, and Turkish National Day on October 29th.
(c) Armenian, Catholic and Protestant:
Epiphany (Catholics) and Christmas (Armenians), Greek Independence Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Ochi Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and the Second Day of Christmas.
