22 Jun 2009 (FSM Information Services-Pohnpei) FSM President, Manny Mori, signed a Presidential Proclamation declaring a 4-day national period of mourning, from June 23-26, 2009, on the occasion of the passing of the late Honorable Vice-Speaker and Dauk of U, Resio S. Background Information

Governing Law: Official public holidays in the Federated States of Micronesia are regulated by Section 603 of title 1 of the Code of the Federated States of Micronesia, as amended in 2004 by the Congressional Bill No.13-97, C.D.1 (Public Law No.13-38) which added Veterans' Day to the list of national public holidays.  Weekend Public Holidays: Generally, federal/national public holidays that fall on Saturday are observed on the proceeding Friday and public holidays that fall on Sunday are observed on the following Monday.
