Fitial, issued a memo declaring the coming week as a two-day public sector workweek. • 18 Nov 2009 (The Saipan Tribune-Garapan) Saipan's Commonwealth Election Commission Board has announced that the date of the upcoming runoff election would be Monday, November 23, 2009, which has been declared a non-working public holiday. • 31 Mar 2008 (Marianas Variety) Parliament is about to vote whether to reintroduce austerity Fridays, whereby government offices close every other Friday, and employees who do not work on official CNMI holidays are not be paid for that day. • 03 Oct 2007 (The Saipan Tribune-Garapan) Public Law 15-24, which created the biweekly austerity holidays, expires at the end of this month, with no legal basis left for what would be the upcoming austerity holiday, scheduled for Friday, October 5, 2007. • 08 May 2007 (The Saipan Tribune-Garapan) The government introduced legislation that proposes unpaid holidays to replace the biweekly austerity holidays beginning this October. • 01 May 2007 (The Saipan Tribune-Garapan) Governor Benigno R.
