• 29 Apr 2011 (Rádio Nacional de Angola-Luanda) The Cabinet Director of Angola's Ministry of Public Service and Social Security, Jesus Maiato, has announced that as per the recently-voted law revising Angolan official public holidays, Monday, May 2, 2011, would be a non-working public holiday.
• 15 Feb 2011 (Boletim Informativo do Governo de Angola-BIGA) Angolan President, José Eduardo dos Santos, has signed into law the recently-voted major revision of Angolan public holidays.
• 20 Jan 2011 (Boletim Informativo do Governo de Angola-BIGA) Despite some last-ditch efforts by the Angolan opposition, the recently-voted public holidays legislation (Lei dos Feriados Nacionais e Locais e Datas de Celebração Nacional) has finally been made official.
• 16 Dec 2010 (Boletim Informativo do Governo de Angola-BIGA) The Angolan parliament has overwhelmingly passed the "Ley de los Feriados Nacionales y Locales" which revises the current legislation on public holidays in Angola.
• 17 Jan 2010 (AngoNotícias-Luanda) The governor of the Provincial Government of Luanda, Francisca do Espirito Santo, has declared a half-day regional public holiday for tomorrow afternoon, Monday, January 18, 2010, on the occasion of that day's CAN 2010 football game.
• 20 Mar 2009 (Angop News Agency-Luanda) Late last night, it was reported that Angola's minister for public administration and employment, had given public sector workers a public holiday on Friday, March 20, 2009.
• 30 Aug 2008 (Angop News Agency-Luanda) The Angolan government has declared the observance of a one-off paid non-working public holiday on Wednesday, September 3, 2008, the last day of the current campaign for the September 5 legislative elections.
• 01 Jul 2008 (Angop News Agency-Luanda) The Angolan Council of Ministers has approved a Law-decree on the observance of a one-off public holiday on Friday, September 5, 2008, Election Day, in an extraordinary session of the Cabinet Council.
• 05 Jun 2008 (Angola Press Agency-Luanda) The office of President Jose Eduardo dos Santos issued a statement announcing legislative elections, on Friday, September 5, 2008.

Si tiene cualquiera pregunta sobre estos comentarios, por favor contáctanos. • Governing Law: Public holidays in Angola are currently regulated by Law 1/01 of March 23, 2001, which had itself amended Law 16/96 of September 27, 1996. Additional amendments have since been decreed to increase the original list, the most recent of which, Ley núm. 7/03 relativa a los feriados nacionales, was published in the Diário da República, 2003-03-21, núm. 22, págs. 461-462.
• Non-Working Periods: Article 3 of the aforementioned law of 2003 (Suspensão da actividade laboral) specifies that public holidays are non-working days, as well as the afternoon of December 24. Since 2003, the afternoon of December 31 has also made its was into the list of non-working days.
• Dates may be subject to change depending on proximity to a weekend. The government has also been known to declare national holidays, public holidays or celebrations with very short notice.
• Weekend Public Holidays Public holidays that fall on weekly day of rest (as defined by) are moved to the next working day (quando um feriado coincide com um dia de descanso semanal deve ser transferido para o dia útil imediatamente a seguir).
• Bridge Holidays and Days in Lieu: Article 7 of the aforementioned law of 2003 defines as "Pontes" (bridges) the public holidays given on a Monday, when a public holiday falls on a Sunday. The use of the term "bridges" is misleading as what it describes is more akin to what is elsewhere called "days in lieu".
• Martyrs' Day: Angola's parliament voted, in mid-1996, to include the anniversary date of the January 4, 1961, killing of cotton plantations workers by the Portuguese Armed Forces, as "Colonial Repression Martyrs Day".
• Court Holidays: Note that Court holidays run between 23 December and the last day of February. Also applies to the Public Ministry. |
