Therefore on that day, and the 2 following days, to be safe, one should assume that business and government contacts will not be reachable, as was the case, once again in 2007 . • For many West Africans, the "Magal de Touba" is as important as the Hajj, the pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca. It is deeper rooted in local Muslim traditions, but also more affordable to the poor majority of the region. • Despite the holidays listed, there are legally required only 8 paid holidays in addition to Independence Day and Labour Day. • The Presidential Inauguration Day was declared a national public holiday in 2007.

Feriados Musulmanes: En Senegal, los días feriados y días festivos musulmanes se calculan utilizando el calendario Umm al-Qura de Arabia Saudí, de utilización oficial en Arabia Saudí y de gran utilización en la mayoría de los estados del Golfo Pérsico. Estos días feriados podrían celebrarse un día después en los países que no estén dentro de la región del Golfo.
