The same is true of Ash Wednesday and mid-Lent. • The island of Saint Barthélemy (St.Barths) voted to secede from Guadeloupe and in 2007, the island became a French overseas collective. • Weekend Public Holidays: Public holidays that occur on a weekend remain on that date (ie. they are not moved to another date, such as the following Monday, for example). • Schoelcher Day on July 21st and All Souls' Day on November 2nd are also observed by many.
