There are some new national holidays and many holidays for members of specific religions. This schedule lists the national holidays as well as some of the main observances from different relligious groups. Although the changes were initially slated for 2008, many were implemented in the second half of 2007. • Weekend Public Holidays: When a Macedonian holiday falls on a weekend day, the Government of Macedonia usually issues a proclamation a few days before the holiday informing the public that a different day will be the observed holiday. • Orthodox New Year is not a public holiday although it is celebratedby some. • Religious and Ethnic Holidays: The following are Government-designated religious and ethnic community holidays that are only for those of specific faiths or ethnic communities. Muslimische Feiertage : Die muslimischen Feiertage, Bankfeiertage und gesetzlichen Feiertage für Mazedonien sind unter Verwendung des Umm al-Qura Kalenders von Saudi-Arabien berechnet worden, der sowohl in Saudi-Arabien wie auch in den meisten der Staaten am Persischen Golf verwendet wird. In Ländern außerhalb der Golfregion können Feiertage ggf. einen Tag später auftreten. Die in diesen Berechnungen verwendeten Sonnenaufgänge, Sonnenuntergänge, Mondphasen, Mondaufgänge und Monduntergänge basieren auf der Lage von Mekka (geographische Breite 21,42°N, geographische Länge 39,82°O, MGZ+3 Stunden, keine Sommerzeitregeln).
