Governing Law: Official public holidays in Antigua and Barbuda are regulated by the Public Holidays (Amendment) Act 2005 (An Act to amend the Public Holidays Act Cap. 345), published in the Official Gazette Vol. XXV No. 57 dated 15th September, 2005, which repealed and replaced the Public Holidays Act of 1954 [CAP. 354].
Weekend Public Holidays: There are very specific individual rules for public holidays that fall on the weekend in Antigua and Barbuda.
VC Bird Day (Vere Cornwall Bird Snr Day): This public holiday is still incorrectly listed on July 1st in many websites, but it was combined into National Heroes Day in 2006.
Common Law Holidays: Sundays, Christmas Day and Good Friday are observed as Common Law Holidays. |
