Trinidad and Tobago's recently elected Prime Minister, Basdeo Panday, announced today, in the House of Representatives, that his governement would declare a new, March 30th, public holiday for the Spiritual Baptist community.

In his speech, the Prime Minister did not make any reference to the other potential new public holiday, Indian Arrival Day, which was celebrated as a one-off public holiday, last year, on May 30th.
