Decree 288-98 of November 30, 1998, was signed by the President of the Republic of Honduras, Rafael Pineda Ponce, amending first paragraph of Article 339 of the Labor Code, by removing 4 public holidays from the list of official public holidays in Honduras.

The 4 public holidays that are cancelled by the Decree are: April 14 (Día de las Américas), September 17 (Día del Maestro), October 3 (Nacimiento de Francisco Morazán), and October 12 (Día de la Raza).

These will remain civic holidays, but will be regular working days for both the private and public sectors.
