The government of Cape Verde has gazetted the Lei nº 95/99 which adds a new, January 13, annual public holiday in Cape Verde.
This new public holiday, Democracy Day, was gazetted in the " Boletim Oficial I S nº 8, de 22 de Março de 1999" as an amendment to the current law legislating public holidays in Cape Verde; the "Lei n.º 16/IV/91, Decreto-Lei que fixa os Feriados Nacionais – Boletim Oficial I S n.º 52 de 30 Dezembro de 1991" (Boletim Oficial I S n.º 52 de 30 Dezembro de 1991).
