(Posted on Thursday, November 9, 2000)

Antigua and Barbuda's House of Representatives has voted the "Public Holidays (Amendment) Act, 2000" (An Act to amend the Public Holidays Act, Cap. 354) which would replace the July CARICOM public holiday by a new August public holiday.

The law, which must still be ratified by the Senate, would replace the Caribbean Community (Caricom) Day on the first Monday of July, by a new "Vere Cornwall Bird (Snr.) Day" public holiday on the day after the first Monday of August.
