Today is the last time that that December 7 is observed as a public holiday in the Ivory Coast.
This public holiday, commemorating the anniversary of the death of the Ivory Coast's first president, Felix Houphouet- Boigny, on December 7, 1993, was to remain a public holiday until the year 2000, only (09-May-1996).
