Christmas Island has released its 2001 list of official public holidays, in which Labour Day, usually observed in the latter part of March, is scheduled for March 5 in 2001.
The reason for this change is not clear, but it does align Labour Day in Christmas Island with the date observed in Western Australia, which administers Christmas Island.
