At its meeting of last Friday, July 28, 2000, the Cabinet of the Government of Mauritius has approved the official list of public holidays in Mauritius for the upcoming calendar year 2001.
The announced list does not include either a public holiday on February 1st, to commemorate the abolition of slavery, or one on November 2, to mark the arrival of indentured labourers in Mauritius, as had been speculated earlier this year would be the case.
