Thailand's government has declared a one-off municipal public holiday in Bangkok, for Friday, February 11, 2000, on the occasion of the "10th United Nations Conference on Trade and Development".
This is akin to what happened in 1992, when Bangkok hosted a joint IBRD/IMF conference and the government of the time announced an extra public holiday, to keep the normally congested Bangkok streets clear for the delegates.
