In a recent reply to a House of Commons question, the UK's Prime Minister, Tony Blair, has announced that an extra public holiday would be declared in 2002 to celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee.
This additional public holiday would be on Monday, June 3, 2002, which combined with a proposed move of the spring bank holiday from May 27 to June 4 , will result in a four-day break.
The last one-off public holiday in the UK was the Millenium public holiday (03-Jun-1998).
