The General Office of China's State Council has announced the details of the upcoming National Day, weeklong, public holidays.
The National Day public holidays will run from October 1-7, 2002, inclusively, to be compensated by having declared the entire weekend of September 29-30, 2001, as regular working days.
Weeklong, Golden Week, public holidays were introduced in 1999 (20-Sep-1999), in an effort to boost internal tourism and domestic consumption, and were confirmed in January's State Council of China announcement of the Chinese national public holidays schedule for 2001 (11-Jan-2001).
