Indonesia Chinese New Year Public Holiday Update

Indonesia's Deputy Cabinet Secretary, Erman Rajaguguk, that, to date, there is no presidential decree or any kind of presidential decision setting the date of Chinese New Year 2002 as a national public holiday.

Early this year (19-Jan-2001), Indonesia's President, Abdurrahman Wahid, agreed to declare Chinese New Year (locally know as Imlek) to become a public holiday, but only for the ethnic Chinese in Indonesia, not a full national public holiday.
