Mongolia's Parliament Debates June 1st Public Holiday

(Posted on Tuesday, June 12, 2001)

Mongolia's Parliament has opened a debate on a renaming, or even possible date change, to the June 1st, "Mother and Child Day" public holiday.

Some of the proposed name changes are: "Children's Day" and "Parents Day". Generally, the MPs who sided with the renaming of the June 1st public holiday as Children's Day, also argued for the additional declaration of March 8 as a public holiday to mark "International Women's Day".
