The Government of Saint Helena has gazetted the "Ordinance 2 of 2001" which amends the Public Holidays Ordinance (Ordinance 9 of 1945, Chapter 158) which governs the occurence and observation of non-working public holidays in Saint Helena.

The Saint Helena Public Holidays Ordinance of 1945, whose full name is "An Ordinance To Provide For The Observance Of Certain Days As Public Holidays, And For Other Purposes Connected Therewith", had already been amended 4 times in the past; in 1955, 1967, 1981, and 1988.
