Most recently, the Ugandan government had declared Wednesday, February 28, 2001, a one-off public holiday to allow people to go and check their names in the voters' register and pick cards for voting (27-Feb-2001), and before that, Uganda's Ministry of Public Service had declared Friday, January 19, 2001, a one-off public holiday to enable people to participate in updating voters registers (18-Jan-2001)..
