Earlier this week, Uruguay's Parliament approved a bill which will keep fixed the dates of the observances of the June 19 and November 2 public holidays.
After these changes come into effect, at the beginning of 2002, only 3 "movable" public holidays will remain: April 19 (Desembarco de los 33 Orientales), May 18 (Batalla de las Piedras), and October 12 (Descubrimiento de América).
