The General Office of China's State Council has announced the details of the upcoming National Day, weeklong, public holidays.
In a manner similar to last year (14-Sep-2001), the National Day public holidays will run from October 1-7, 2002, inclusively, to be compensated by having declared the entire weekend of September 28-29, 2002, as regular working days.
Weeklong, Golden Week, public holidays were introduced in 1999 (20-Sep-1999), in an effort to boost internal tourism and domestic consumption, and were confirmed in last December's State Council of China announcement of the Chinese national public holidays schedule for 2002 (17-Dec-2001).
