The government of Kazakhstan has declared Monday and Tuesday, December 30 and 31, 2002, as well as Friday, January 3, 2003, as one-off public holidays.

As is traditionally the case (14-Aug-2001 and 19-Apr-2001), and to compensate for the aforementioned additional public holidays, Saturday and Sunday, December 28 and 29, 2002, and Sunday, January 5, 2003, have been declared regular working days throughout Kazakhstan.

The net effect of this resolution is that the upcoming New Year public holidays (annually observed on January 1 and 2) will last 6 days, from Monday, December 30, 2002, until Saturday, January 4, 2003, inclusively.
