At its January 29th meeting the Cabinet of Lesotho has approved the addition of a new public holiday, Africa Day, to be observed on May 25th, starting in 2002.
The Cabinet decision further states that Africa Day will be celebrated together with Heroes Day, which used to be on April 4, meaning that, April 4 ceases to be a public holiday, also starting in 2002.
The Ministry of Home Affairs is reported to be in the process of gazetting this new development, which amends the recently published list of 2002 public holidays, which included both the April 4 and May 25 public holidays (08-Jan-2002).
