The Head of the Presidential Legislative Liaison Office, Gabriel Claudio, announced that one of the measures included in the legislative agenda for the remainder of the current first regular session of the 12th Congress, is to make the Eidul Fitr (End of Ramadan) a full-fledged national public holiday.
The legislative agenda, approved yesteday by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and the Cabinet, lists 20 measures targeted for enactment by Congress by March 14, 2002.
The End of Ramadan public holiday (or Eidul Fitr) is expected to occur on December 5, in 2002, and was for the first time in Philippine history declared a public holiday, albeit a one-off holiday, last year (05-Nov-2001).
