The Trinidad and Tobago government has announced that September 24th, formerly Republic Day, is to be declared an annual public holiday, again, as replacement for one of the other 12 public holidays.
The, September 24, Republic Day public holiday had been removed from the official calendar of holidays in 1996, along with the Whitmonday public holiday (16-Feb-1996), to make way for the Spiritual Baptist (Shouter) Liberation Day (March 30th) and the Indian Arrival Day public holiday (May 30th).
