The "Public, Holidays (Amendment) Act, 2003" (An Act to amend the Public Holidays Act, Cap. 354) has been gazetted, after passing the House of Representatives and the Senate, last August.

The "Public, Holidays (Amendment) Act, 2003" amends the first few lines of the Schedule to the "Public Holidays Act, Cap. 354" by declaring the Monday that follows January 1st a public holiday if January 1st falls on a Saturday or Sunday, and the Monday that follows November 1st a public holiday if November 1st falls on a Saturday or Sunday.

In the previous version of the Public Holidays Act, as last amended in 2000 (28-Dec-2000), the Monday that follows January 1st was only a public holiday if January 1st fell on a Sunday, and no provision was made for the cases when November 1st fell either on a Saturday or Sunday.

The Bill (Law 10 of 2003) passed the House of Representatives on August 26, and the Senate on August 29.
