Members of the Majilis (the lower house of parliament in Kazakhstan) have drafted amendments to the law on public holidays to extend the list of official public holiday in Kazakhstan to include Orthodox Christmas, Kurban Ayt (Feast of Sacrifice) and Ramazan Ayt (End of Ramadan).

Kazakhstan is a secular state with about 30% Christians and 60% Muslims making up the bulk of the 40 or so religions present.
