The government of Kenya has confirmed that the upcoming, Moi Day, public holiday, on October 10, would be an official non-working public holiday, despite Mr. Moi having left office in December of last year.
However, like last year (09-Oct-2002), there will be no military displays and traditional festivities at provincial and district headquarters.
The October 10 public holiday was declared in October 1989, to commemorate the day when Daniel Arap Moi rose to power in 1978.
