Philippines Changes Year-End Public Holidays

Executive Secretary, Alberto G. Romulo, by order of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, issued Proclamation 503, declaring December 24, 2003, and January 2, 2004,as special non-working public holidays throughout the country.

In compensation of which, December 30, 2003 (Rizal Day), will be a regular working day.

Additionally, the Proclamation states that employees of government departments, offices, agencies or instrumentalities will not be required to report for work on December 26, 2003.
