The UAE's Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, Matar Humaid Al Tayer, has announced that the first day of the Islamic month of Muharram, 1424 Hijri, had been declared a public holiday for the private sector.
The Islamic New Year is already an annual public holiday for the public sector of the UAE.
