The State Council of China has released the official list of 2005 public holidays, including the list of working Saturdays and Sundays that compensate for the 3 weeklong Golden Week public holidays.
The periods of public holidays in China in 2005 will be:
• January 1-3. • February 9-15. • May 1-7 • October 1-7
As was the case in past years (19-Dec-2003), and more generally since the implementation of the weeklong, Golden Week, public holidays (20-Sep-1999), in compensation for the additional public holidays, some nearby weekend days have been declared as regular working days.
The compensatory working weekend dates in 2005 will be:
• Saturday and Sunday, February 5-6. • Saturday, April 30. • Sunday, May 8. • Saturday and Sunday, October 8-9.
Note that, since last month (26-Nov-2004), China's State Council has in discussions with various government agencies, with a view to possibly cancel the weeklong public holidays around the Lunar New Year, Labor Day, and Chinese National Day.
