The Home Affairs Minister Joketani Cokanasiga has confirmed that Friday, April 30 will be a one-off public holiday and will be gazetted as such by the Labour Minister.
This is done to remember Fiji's great chief, Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara, who was prime minister for 22 years and later president, and who died on April 18, aged 83.
The aforementioned declaration thus amends the official list of 2004 public holidays in Fiji, announced last summer (19-Jun-2003).
