Jersey's Bailiff’s Consultative Panel along with the States of Jersey Legislation Committee have jointly announced that there would be no day in lieu public holiday, on Monday, May 10, 2004, to compensate the fact that this year's Liberation Day public holiday falls on a Sunday.
This is consistent with the 1999 decision by the States of Jersey which also ruled that there would be no day in lieu public holiday, on Monday, May 10, 1999, in similar circumstances (09-Apr-1999).
The President of Jersey's Legislation Committee did, however, announce that, as Christmas Day and Boxing Day 2004 fall on a Saturday and Sunday, the Committee is proposing that Monday, December 27th, and Tuesday, December 28th, 2004, be declared as days in lieu public holidays. Similarly, it will be proposing that Monday, January 3rd, 2005, be a day in lieu public holiday.
