(Posted on Wednesday, February 4, 2004)

Source: New Straits Times

The Tamil Nesan newspaper ran a story yesterday in which it stated that the Government of Malaysia could soon declare Thaipusam a national public holiday.

The article based its hunch on the scheduled presence of Culture, Arts and Tourism Minister Datuk Abdul Kadir Sheikh Fadzir and Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Khir Toyo, at the celebrations at Batu Caves tomorrow.
