Philippines Declares Two Year-End Public Holidays

(Posted on Thursday, December 16, 2004)

Philippines Presidential Executive Secretay, Eduardo Ermita, has announced Proclamation 750, declaring Friday, December 24, and Monday, December 27, 2004, as special non-working public holidays throughout the country.

This was done to create a seamless period of public holidays, considering the weekends, and the fact that as per Executive Order No. 292 (1987), as amended by Republic Act No. 9177, December 25 (Christmas Day), December 30 (Rizal Day) and January 1 (New Year’s Day) are regular public holidays, while December 31 (last day of the year) is a special public holiday.
