President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo (PGMA) issued Proclamation No. 727, declaring Tuesday, November 30, 2004, to be a regular working day, while Monday, November 29, 2004, is to be a one-off non-working holiday throughout the country.
As per the text of the Proclamation, this was done in order to spur domestic tourism and enable our countrymen to avail of the benefits of a longer weekend, since normally, as per Executive Order No 292 (1987), as amended by Republic Act No. 9177 (2002), Tuesday, November 30, 2004, should have been a public holiday, and the 29th a regular working day.
The Proclamation does, however, state that all activities and celebrations in observance of "Bonifacio Day" shall remain to be observed on Tuesday, November 30, 2004.
