The Labour and Social Policy Committee of the State Duma, Russia's lower house of parliament, has recommended the introduction of a new public holiday, National Unity Day, to be celebrated on November 4, commemorating Moscow's liberation from Polish occupation in 1612.
The committee's first deputy chairman, Oleg Yeremeyev, hinted that, in compensation, the november 7, October Revolution public holiday would be abolished.
