The UAE's Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, Dr. Ali bin Abdullah Al Ka'abi, has announced that Saturday, January 1, 2005, is to be observed as an official public holiday by the private sector.

As such, all private sector installations and firms should observe the day as a public holiday throughout the country, as a similar announcement was made yesterday for the public sector (26-Dec-2004).
