The UAE's State Ministry for Cabinet Affairs has declared an official public sector holiday for ministries, government and federal departments and public authorities in the UAE, on Saturday, August 7, 2004, to mark the 38th anniversary of President H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan's accession to the rule of the Abu Dhabi Emirate.

The circular points out that it was decided that Saturday, August 7, would be an official public sector holiday, as August 6, the day on which Sheikh Zayed assumed power in the emirate, falls on a weekly day of rest.
