For the very first time, the government of Burundi decided to observe the Idd-al-Fitr (end of Ramadan) Muslim festival by declaring, Friday, November 4, 2005, a national public holiday in Burundi.
In a separate communique, the Burundi government, through its labour minister, has declared this a public sector holiday to all state and parastatal employees.
