Ecuador's President, Alfredo Palacio, has issued the executive decree 996, fixing the list and dates of public holidays for the year 2006.
The annual holidays of May 24 (Batalla de Pichincha) and August 10 (Primer Grito de Independencia) will be moved to May 26 and August 11, respectively, as per the 2003 "Ley Orgánica de Servicio Civil y Carrera Administrativa y de Unificación y Homologación de las Remuneraciones del Sector Público" (04-Dec-2003).
Additionally, the 2 days of Carnival will take place on February 27 and 28, in 2006, to be compensated by working on 2 Saturdays; March 4 and 11, 2006.
