A group of Malaysian members of Parliament have urged the government to declare Wednesday, November 2, 2005, as a one-off bridge public holiday.
This request is based on the fact that, in 2005, November 1st will correspond to this year's Deepavali public holiday, while November 3rd is expected to be the first day of the Hari Raya Aidilfitri (End of Ramadan) public holiday.
One of the proposal's backers, S. Devamany (BN-Cameron Highlands), has suggested, additionally, that the government could declare the Saturday before, or after, as a working day, to compensate the proposed November 2, 2005, one-off bridge public holiday.
