Malacanang's Executive Secretary, Eduardo Ermita, announced today the issuance of Proclamation No. 880 declaring Monday, July 25, 2005, as a special one-off non-working day (municipal public holiday) in Metro Manila.

This was done to encourage and give opportunity to Filipinos to listen to the State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and be involved in the affairs of the country.

The Senate and the House of Representatives, together with their employees and staff, shall be excluded from the purview of Proclamation 880.
