Malacanang Executive Secretary, Eduardo Ermita, announced that Friday, November 4, 2005, had been declared a special non-working day throughout the Philippines as Filipino-Muslims mark the end of the holy Islamic month of Ramadan.
Secretary Ermita did, however, stress that Wednesday and Thursday, November 2 and 3, 2005, are regular working days.
The reason for this additional reminder is that rumors had been circulating that these 2 days would be declared as additional one-off public holidays to link the November 4-5-6 long weekend to the previous 4-day weekend declared by virtue of Proclamation No.839 of May 10, 2005 (16-May-2005).
