Ukrainian Minister for Labor and Social Policies, Ivan Sakhan, has announced that the Government of the Ukraine had declared the period from January 1, to January 9, 2006, as public holidays.
This means 4 additional, one-off public holidays, from January 3-6, as both January 2 and 9 are already public holidays due to January 1 and 7 falling on a weekend in 2006.
These 4 additional days will most likely be recuperated by working 4 Saturdays spread throughout January and February.
