South Australia's Minister for Recreation, Sport and Racing, has announced that the public holiday for the 2007 Adelaide Cup will be Monday, March 12, 2007, and that it is the government's intention to schedule the Adelaide Cup public holiday annually on the second Monday in March each year.
The proposal for the change was made by the South Australian Jockey Club, following the Adelaide Cup having been rained out for the second year in a row (21-May-2004), and a one-off trial, earlier this year (13-Jul-2005) was deemed a success.
