Chile Considering Replacing Corpus Chisti Public Holiday

(Posted on Wednesday, August 23, 2006)

The Chilean legislative assembly (Cámara de Diputados) approved an initiative proposed back in 2003, which would make the Fiesta de la Virgen del Carmen, which falls on July 16, an official public holiday, in replacement of Corpus Christi.

The bill now goes to the senate for a second reading.
